Cher Casey, PhD

I'm Cher, a California-native and mum who founded The Mindful Organiser to help people create uncluttered, functional homes that enhance well-being. My personal journey with decluttering inspired me to assist others in reclaiming their spaces. With a thoughtful, non-judgmental approach, I help clients understand the reasons behind their clutter, empowering them to make lasting changes and establish easy-to-maintain systems.

My Story

I’m a mum, wife, and California-native who loves helping people along their journey towards an uncluttered and functional home. I started The Mindful Organiser because I know, firsthand, that our surroundings can greatly impact our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Even more importantly, I’ve seen how reclaiming and organising homes allows people to relax and enjoy life to the fullest.

I started helping people declutter and organise their homes in California in 2010, before pursuing my graduate studies in Medieval History of Art at The University of York in 2012. Juggling a busy family life with academic work left me completely exhausted and disorganised. After submitting my thesis, I tackled my own chaotic home (top to bottom!). I decluttered room by room and created systems that my whole family could follow. In the process I rediscovered the joy and freedom of living in an uncluttered home. Inspired by this transformation, I founded The Mindful Organiser to help others improve their living spaces and achieve meaningful life changes.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of roles—teaching and mentoring university students, administration, international tour guiding, and childcare. Not only have I had the privilidge of working with people from different backgrounds and life experiences, I’ve also developed a rich array of organising and leadership skills. I take a thoughtful, non-judgmental, and mindful approach to decluttering and home organising. I empower my clients to understand how emotions, habits, and life experiences play a role in their clutter, and guide them in making meaningful decisions about the items they choose to keep. I love helping people to create customised, lasting systems that make staying organised simple and achievable.

As a lifelong learner and educator, I’ve applied my PhD approach to understanding a wide range of topics, from chronic disorganisation and supporting clients with ADHD to conscious downsizing and emotions-based decluttering. As a working mum, I have a particular passion for helping busy families and expectant parents create practical, easy-to-manage systems that simplify their homes and daily routines.

When I’m not tackling a cluttered wardrobe or enjoying reruns of Sort Your Life Out, you’ll find me enjoying quality time with my family in beautiful Yorkshire and beyond.

I’ve had the privilege of helping people from all walks of life overcome emotional and situational barriers to create the homes they’ve always dreamed of. I’d love to hear your story and explore how I can help you reclaim your space.
